Beltrame Civil was established in 1955 by Alfonso Beltrame. Against the backdrop of 1950's post-war Europe, Alfonso migrated from Italy to Australia seeking opportunity. With little more than determination and a strong work ethic, he founded the company, then known as Expert Terrazzo & Cement Works. Initially focused on drainage and concrete kerbing contracts, the business achieved rapid growth and employed 70 people by the mid 1960's.
During the 1970's Alfonso, now joined by his four sons, formed Beltrame Constructions and handed responsibility of the business to his eldest son Lino. At a time when competitors were slashing rates to win kerbing contracts, the brothers saw civil contracting as an opportunity to grow the business. Starting out with a backhoe and a couple of old trucks they successfully tendered for road, pipeline and electrical distribution construction works, and over the next three decades built up an extensive plant and equipment fleet of over 50 vehicles. In 2000, Beltrame Constructions was renamed Beltrame Civil in order to reflect the expansion of services and engineering solutions offered to clients.
Sixty years on, and with a third generation of Beltrames at the helm, Beltrame Civil has built an impressive reputation as a highly respected civil contractor and remains a proud family business.
